We're a bridge, not a destination.

The Next Phase Project is an independent nonprofit that connects people leaving or questioning religion with the communities, resources, and voices that already exist to support them. We don’t belong to any religious or secular movement, everything here is free, and where you land is entirely up to you.

Provide pathways to healthy community for people who are leaving or questioning religion.

A society where people can transition out of religion without losing community, meaning, or belonging — and where secular and religious voices participate in civic life on equal footing.

Who we're for

We're here for everyone in transition.

We’re here for people who aren’t sure anymore. We’re here for people who are ready to leave but don’t know how to take the next step. And we’re here for people navigating life without religion for the first time.

Each year, millions of people in the United States leave religion without a clear path to what comes next. There are vibrant secular communities all over the country — but they’re scattered, hard to find, and easy to miss when you need them most.

Where people land matters. We exist to help them land well.

Having doubts isn't a failure. It's one of the most common human experiences there is, and we amplify the stories of people who've lived it.

We help people find answers beyond faith

When the old answers no longer feel adequate, we point to honest resources for making sense of the world — and of what you're going through.

We make secular life visible

Support networks, communities, and resources already exist. We help people actually find them.

We support healing

For those carrying hurt from their religious experience, we connect them to voices and resources dedicated to recovery — including mental health support.

We vet what we share

Every resource here is checked for one thing: that it serves you, not an agenda. We recommend a deliberate mix of voices and let you decide what fits.

We make it safe to explore

Questioning can carry real risk depending on where you live and who you live with. This site is built to be browsed privately, with a quick exit on every page.

We don't replace communities. We don't recruit. We don't debate. We build the bridge and help people cross it.

This is not an anti-religion effort. This is a pro-connection, pro-autonomy, pro-community initiative.
